Hero Xtreme 250R: Bookings Open Soon for Hero's Quarter-Liter Contender

Hero MotoCorp has officially announced that bookings for the much-anticipated Xtreme 250R will commence in February 2025. This news comes hot on the heels of its launch at the Bharat Mobility Show 2025, where the bike was unveiled at a price of Rs 1.80 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Xtreme 250R marks Hero's entry into the fiercely competitive quarter-liter street bike segment, currently dominated by both Indian and Japanese manufacturers. Hero is confident that the Xtreme 250R, first showcased as the Xtunt 2.5R concept over a year ago, will be a game-changer in this segment.

Aesthetics and Performance

Hero has been steadily elevating its motorcycle design language in recent years, starting with the striking Xtreme 160R and followed by the sharp Xtreme 125R. This trend continues with the Xtreme 250R, featuring a low-slung headlamp, aggressively sculpted fuel tank with sharp extensions, and an upswept tail section. This combination results in a visually appealing and athletic stance.

Powering the Xtreme 250R is a 250cc, liquid-cooled, DOHC, four-valve engine mated to a six-speed gearbox. This potent motor delivers 30bhp and 25Nm of torque, enabling a brisk 0-60kmph sprint in just 3.25 seconds. Notably, this engine will also underpin the upcoming Hero Karizma 250.

Suspension and Handling

The Xtreme 250R is equipped with premium suspension components, including 43mm upside-down forks at the front and a preload-adjustable monoshock at the rear. These components, combined with 17-inch alloy wheels, should contribute to agile handling and a comfortable ride.

Bookings and Availability

Bookings for the Xtreme 250R can be made both online and through authorized Hero dealerships starting in February. Deliveries are expected to commence from March 2025. Hero is likely to offer the Xtreme 250R in a choice of two attractive colors.

Conclusion

The Xtreme 250R represents a significant step forward for Hero MotoCorp in the premium motorcycle segment. With its aggressive styling, powerful engine, and well-sorted chassis, it has the potential to become a strong contender in a highly competitive market. The upcoming months will reveal how well the Xtreme 250R is received by riders.
